Ronald Dembowski – Brewmaster / Operations Manager
Ron is an award-winning home brewer who discovered his passion for beer-making in 2014. Since then he has crafted many recipes, garnering a deep understanding of the science and creativity that goes with the craft. In July, 2017, Ron started brewing with Macleod Ale in Van Nuys, CA on a volunteer basis.. This volunteer work helped him hone his skills in a professional environment while gaining insight into the retail process. Ron also holds a certificate in the business of craft brewing from Portland State University and a brewing quality certificate from The Brewer’s Association. He won his first home brewing award in September 2017: first place in pale ale category for a pale ale recipe which will feature as a rotating handle at Shadow Grove.
A Michigan native, Ron spent eight years in the haunted attraction industry. Starting as a scare actor in 1995, he quickly moved up into management and consulting roles for many successful attractions in the Metro Detroit area. He has constructed entire haunts from planning through execution and has been hired for set design, marketing, actor management and event supervision. This experience fostered his passion for thematic experiences and the need for cohesive branding, and helped inspire the design of the Shadow Grove brand and taproom.
After graduating top-of-class from The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2005, he spent 12 years at Location Sound Corp in North Hollywood and quickly climbed to the position of Senior Audio Technician, leading a team of 3 additional technicians. He is currently working in the film and television industry as a production sound mixer for clients such as: NBC, NFL Network, UFC and HGTV.
Tom Clark – Business Manager / Tasting Room Manager
Tom graduated with a BA degree from Western Michigan University in Theatre. He went on to act, direct and design in regional theatre with an emphasis on production management and set, lighting, sound design and construction. During this time he worked for multiple small and national retail companies as Department Supervisor, Store Manager and Regional Training Manager, where he was responsible for multi-million dollar inventory and labor budgets, and learned the importance of having operational systems in place at scale. Late in his retail career his experience led him to automotive management.
Currently Tom operates Prosperity Dealer Services, LLC a company that provides consulting, training and products to automobile dealers, and serves as the Treasurer for the Southern California Darts Association.
Tom has been home brewing for over 10 years.
